DIEZANI ALISON MADUEKE TO WEAR ELECTRONIC TAG, AS PART OF HER BAIL CONDITIONS.

Former Nigerian oil minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, has been charged with bribery in a UK court. The charges allege that she received bribes in cash, luxury goods, private jet flights, and high-end properties in exchange for awarding lucrative oil contracts. The National Crime Agency's International Corruption Unit has described the charges as a milestone in their thorough investigation into Alison-Madueke's alleged abuse of power in Nigeria.

According to the National Crime Agency (NCA), the accusations against Alison-Madueke include benefiting from at least £100,000 in cash, luxury holidays, and multiple London properties. The charges also detail rewards such as furniture, renovation work, staff for properties, payment of private school fees, and gifts from designer shops.

District Judge Michael Snow granted bail to Diezani Alison-Madueke with conditions. As part of her bail, she must provide a surety who will pay £70,000. Additionally, she must wear an electronic tag and follow an 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew.

Andy Kelly, Head of the NCA's International Corruption Unit, stated that they suspect Diezani Alison-Madueke abused her power in Nigeria and accepted financial rewards for awarding multi-million-pound contracts. He further emphasized that the charges marked a significant milestone in a complex international investigation.

The accused reportedly benefited from significant sums of cash, chauffeur-driven cars, private jet flights, luxury family holidays, and multiple London properties.
