Two Ukehe ward 1(INEC WARD) jostle for General Secretary



 They are Surveyor Nnachebe Ugbor who hails from Amadim village and Mr Agu Ekene (Akuabata) from Uwelle Amokofia village. The association is the highest organ of the people of Ukehe people resident in Abuja and it's environs. Recall that the current leadership of the association led by Chief Barr Ifesi Nwodo were elected on Sunday 4th August 2019,they were reelected for 2nd tenure including the extra year spent during the COVID-19 pandemic. That brought his tenure in that highly honoured and exalted position to 5 years.The 2nd tenure will end on 4th August 2024 and the association is ready to conduct elections for new leadership to continue. In a publication e-signed by the chairman of the association it's August meeting will hold on Sunday 4th August 2024 and in the agenda of the meeting is the conduct of election into various positions and official handing over ceremony.

UGAA ELECTORAL GUIDELINES for Sunday 4th August 2024
Greetings my people, great Members of Ukehe General Assembly Abuja.
The Electoral Committee appointed by the chairman Chief Barr Ifesi Nwodo (Nwezefu N'Mba) in line with our amended constitution (By-law) after it's 2nd sitting on 26th July 2023 has amended some of the Election Modalities after due Consultation and consideration to move in unity  Hence, our Modalities are follows: 
1. For one to vote and be voted for He/She must be a registered member and has fully paid his/her monthly dues up-to-date.
2. Card carrying registered members ( Old members) must pay dues up to date ( January to August 2024) at the rate of #500 ( due to penalties.)
3. Any person that want to join UGAA next Month must register with the sum of #1,000,  pay monthly dues from January to August  #4,000 ,at the rate of #500 monthly. Also provide a carton of beer or pay (#5,000.cash)
4.Members of other branches Kubwa and Kuje who wishes to vote: the Chairman  of electoral committee has communicated to their branch Chairmen to send the list of cleared members who are financial up-to-date, therefore are eligible voter.
5A (a). Contestants must purchase expression of interest form which the cost and positions are as fellows: 
      A. Chairmanship- #10,000 only
      B. Vice Chairman - #7,000 only
      C. General Secretary - #7,000 only. And the rest positions are at the rate of #5,000 only .
 5A(b). Contestants can print and fill the expression of interest form posted on the platform after payment is being made.
5B. Every contestant must provide evidence of expression of interest form paid to Ukehe United Front Abuja, First bank PLC, Account number 3001363543* please come with ( Printed teller or receipt) on the 4th August 2024 before 3pm.
6. There shall be accredited clearance card to be given to any member that qualifies to vote.
7. Every candidate must provide his/her Agent which must be the only one to observe electoral process for him/her 
8. All campaign activities must stop on Saturday, 3rd August,2024 at 11.59pm dot.


8b. Any defaulter shall be disqualified.
9. All Candidate and their Agent must be at the Venue on or before 3pm.
9b. Any Candidate that comes after 3pm shall be disqualified. All incumbent EXCO members who wishes to re-contest  it's position or other positions as contained in our amended constitution must be in the meeting to hand over/resign his/her position before 3pm
10. Accreditation for the Election starts at 3pm and ends at 4pm.
10b. Every cleared member shall receive clearance card that he/she will use to Vote.
11 .We shall use a transparent ballot box for voting.( For transparency and Accountability).
12. Our Voting shall be secret ballot system.
13. Voting commence at 4pm and ends at 5pm.
14. Meeting and handover starts at 5pm and ends at 6pm.
15. Any group coming for observation must notify the Chairman of UGAA and the chairman will inform the electoral committee members before hand and must not be more than 3 observers.

Meanwhile the the out going chairman of the association has pledged his support to the electoral committee, promising them that he will hand over the mantle of Ukehe General Assembly Abuja leadership in Abuja to only people they declared winner provided that the election is free and fair according to peoples mandate and equally warn all the people who are distracting the electoral committee members to becareful not to intricate his legacy project of handing over when his tenure is over(when the ovation is high)

The First Major Casualty of Section 83 of the Electoral Act 2026 May Have Emerged

The recent decision of the Federal High Court in Fubara Dagogo v. All Progressives Congress (APC) & 3 Ors., Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/591/2026 delivered by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, represents a significant development in Nigeria’s pre-election jurisprudence. In that case, the court struck out the suit challenging the APC National Congress and proceeded to award punitive costs of ₦10 million each against the plaintiff, Mr. Fubara Dagogo, and his counsel, Chief Sir O.A.U. Onyema, for what the court considered a frivolous and non-justiciable action.
