The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Garki Branch, Abuja, successfully hosted its maiden edition of the Law Week from the 18th to 19th of September 2023. The theme of the event was 'Keeping Pace', which focused on equipping legal practitioners with the necessary tools to excel in the fast-changing terrain of the legal profession.

The Law Week featured an array of seasoned, eminent, and experienced experts in various fields of endeavor who explored relevant topics critical to legal practice. The virtual sessions saw a lot of participation from lawyers across the country, and the Branch Dinner was held at the National Press Centre, Radio House, Herbert Macaulay Way, Garki Abuja.
In addition to the Law Week, the event marked the unveiling of the maiden edition of the Liberty Bar Journal published in honor of Justice Husseini Baba-Yusuf, Chief Judge of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The Journal exposed new areas of practice, interrogated recondite legal issues, and proffered solutions to various existential challenges faced in society. The articles were written by seasoned and experienced giants in their various fields, and the journal is of international standard as it was peer-reviewed by seasoned academics in various institutions of learning.
Despite being a new branch of the NBA, the Garki Branch has made remarkable strides in promoting the rule of law, increasing access to justice, expanding the practice scope of members, fostering legal education, empowerment initiatives, and a lot more. The success of the Law Week and the Liberty Bar Journal can be attributed to the support of the NBA President, national officers, committee members, sponsors, and friends of the Branch.


In concluding, the event was a resounding success, and the NBA Garki Branch, Abuja, can be proud of its achievements in promoting the rule of law and enhancing the legal profession. The Law Week and the Liberty Bar Journal have set a high standard for future events, and the Branch can only continue to grow and become a beacon of excellence for legal practice in Nigeria.

NBA ABUJA BRANCH CONDEMNS THE ILLEGAL ARREST AND DETENTION OF SIMON AROMOSELE, ESQ. IN THE COURSE OF THE DISCHARGE OF HIS LAWFUL PROFESSIONAL DUTIES The Nigerian Bar Association, Abuja Branch (Unity Bar), strongly condemns the illegal arrest and detention of one of its members, Mr. Simon Aromosele, Esq., today by officers of the Inspector General of Police Monitoring Unit, Force Headquarters, Abuja, in connection with the discharge of his lawful professional duties.
