Otu Oka-iwu Abuja Executives Met with NBA Abuja Branch Chairman and his Executive team on Friday 17th of May, 2024 at NBA Abuja Branch (Unity Bar) Secretariat at Wuse 2

The NBA Abuja Branch, being the mother branch of all other NBA branches in the Federal capital territory Abuja and the first to be visited, expressed its commitment to collaborating with Otu Oka-iwu for the continued growth and advancement of the legal profession, as well as the welfare of its members. The courtesy visit, which was one of its kind, was embarked on by Otu Oka-iwu executives, led by its President Chidi Udekwe , to felicitate with the Chairmen of the NBA Branches in Abuja.  Otu Oka-iwu Abuja, is the umbrella body of Igbo lawyers association practicing law in Abuja, during the meeting with the executives of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Abuja Branch, the mother branch of all other NBA branches in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, on Friday 17th of May, 2024. The chairman of Nigerian Bar Association Abuja,(Unity Bar Abuja) the Mother Branch of the other NBA branches in Abuja, Committed towards partnering with the  Leadership of Otu Oka-iwu, for Continued growth and welfare of the legal profession. The Otu Oka-iwu Abuja has strongly condemned the harassment of one of its members, Maxwell Opara, Esq, at the premises of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.

Legal Diary News: Otu Oka-iwu Abuja Condemns Harassment of Member in Federal High Court Premises A video circulating on social media platforms shows Maxwell being harassed and assaulted while addressing the press after a court session. According to information available to the Otu Oka-iwu, Maxwell represents the defendants in a matter where Mr. Jesam Michael Ubi is the nominal complainant and a witness. After the court session, Mr. Jesam addressed the press, and the defendants' legal team was invited to provide a balanced report. However, sympathizers of Mr. Jesam mobilized and surrounded Maxwell, hijacking his interview and leading to the harassment and assault seen in the video. The Otu Oka-iwu Abuja has taken a strong stance against this incident, emphasizing that lawyers should not be subjected to such treatment while carrying out their professional duties, especially within the court premises. The organization calls for Mr. Jesam to be cited for contempt of court. ...

OTU OKA-IWU ABUJA CONDEMNS THE HARRASSMENT OF ONE OF ITS MEMBER IN THE FEDERAL HIGH COURT PREMISES ABUJA

On Tuesday, the 7th day of May, 2024, a video trend began to circulate on various social media platforms where one of our member, Maxwell Opara, Esq. was harrassed at the premises of the Federal High Court, Abuja. Information available to the Otu Oka-iwu reveals that Mr. Jesam Michael Ubi is a nominal complainant as well as a witness in a matter where Mawell represents the Defendants. It was gathered that after the court session that fateful day, Mr. Jesam had an opportunity and addressed the Press with the Prosecution, and in order to get a balanced report as demanded by their Press, the Defendants and their legal team were invited to also address the Press.  However, while Maxwell was addressing the Press, the sympathisers of Mr. Jesam mobilized and surrounded Maxwell to hijack his interview.
