Otu Oka-iwu Abuja Executives Met with NBA Abuja Branch chairman and his Executive team yesterday at NBA Abuja Branch (Unity Bar) secretariat at Wuse 2.


The chairman of Nigerian Bar Association Abuja,(Unity Bar Abuja) the Mother Branch of the other NBA branches in Abuja, Committed towards partnering with the  Leadership of Otu Oka-iwu, for Continued growth and welfare of the legal profession.

The outing, which was one of its kind, was embarked on by Otu Oka-iwu executives, led by its President Chidi Udekwe, to felicitate with the Chairmen of the NBA Branches in Abuja. 


Otu Oka-iwu Abuja, is the umbrella body of Igbo lawyers association practicing law in Abuja, during the meeting met with the executives of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Abuja Branch, the mother branch of all other NBA branches in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, yesterday. The visit was Led by its President, Chidi Udekwe, in a discussion which lasted for about two - three hours, was to felicitate with the chairman of the Abuja Branch(Unity Bar). 

According to President Udekwe, as the mother branch of all the NBA branches in Federal capital Territory, Abuja, according to Mr Udekwe, the NBA Abuja Branch is deserving of their first visit as the primus inter pares.

In his speech, President Udekwe commended the outgoing Chairman, Afam Okeke, for steering the affairs of the Abuja Bar for two years. The chairman was briefed on the plans of Otu Oka-iwu, and in his response, he commended the new leadership of the association and assured the members present that the NBA Abuja Branch and Otu Oka-iwu have always enjoyed a cordial relationship, with some members of Otu Oka-iwu also being members of the NBA Abuja Branch. The chairman assured Otu Oka-iwu of his continued support even after his handover as chairman of the branch.

This meeting marks a significant milestone in the relationship between Otu Oka-iwu and the NBA Abuja Branch, and demonstrates the commitment of both organizations to collaboration and mutual support. With this visit, Otu Oka-iwu has reaffirmed its dedication to working with the NBA Abuja Branch to promote the interests of lawyers and the legal profession in Abuja.

NBA Anaocha Branch Names Hall After Okey Wali, SAN The (NBA), Anaocha Branch (Family Bar), has resolved to name its main meeting hall after the 26th President of the Association, . NBA Abuja Branch Vice Chairman Secures Release of Two Inmates After Three Years in Custody

In a significant human rights intervention, the Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Abuja Branch (Unity Bar), and Chairman of the Branch Human Rights Committee, Ikemefuna Onyeka, Esq., has facilitated the release of two Inmates, Bali Joshua and Paul Sunday, who had been in custody since 2023 in connection with an alleged homicide. Upon assuming office on 31st July 2026, Ikemefuna Onyeka, Esq. was briefed on the prolonged detention of the two individuals, whose matter had remained unresolved for more than three years. Although the Human Rights Committee of the Branch had not yet been formally inaugurated, the Vice Chairman immediately took steps to address the matter, demonstrating an early commitment to the protection of fundamental human rights and access to justice.
