Igbaboyi Legislative Drafting Course Concludes with a Successful Graduation Ceremony
The first set of graduates from the Igba Boyi Scheme recently concluded their three-month legislative drafting course, and they are now expressing their heartfelt gratitude to their mentors, supporters, and the entire Otu Oka Iwu Abuja community. Led by President Barr Ejiofor Onwuaso and his dedicated team, the Igba Boyi Endowment Programme proved to be a resounding success, empowering young lawyers with essential skills and knowledge.
Ochili Michael Obinna, speaking on behalf of the nine beneficiaries, extends a warm and sincere thank you to President Ejiofor Onwuaso and his executive members for initiating the Igba Boyi Endowment Programme in 2023. This program, which aimed to train legislative drafting lawyers, saw ten members of Otu Oka Iwu Abuja being sent for training under the guidance of Dr. Clinton Jaja Tonye, the Secretary of the Association of Legislative Drafters and Advocacy Practitioners (ALDRAP).

Dr. Jaja's dedication and commitment to the participants' success were evident throughout the training period. He left no stone unturned in ensuring that the beneficiaries acquired the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in their chosen field. The three-month program, which commenced in October 2023 and concluded in January 2024, culminated in a graduation ceremony held on January 26th, 2024, where certificates were awarded to all participants.

The training cohort consisted of 24 graduates and beneficiaries, including five lawyers from the NBA Garki Branch, Abuja and nine members from the Abia State Ministry of Justice. The beneficiaries are immensely grateful for the opportunity and pray for more benefits and empowerment for young lawyers. They extend their heartfelt appreciation to Otu Oka Iwu and pray for peace, progress, unity, and prosperity.

The graduation ceremony was attended by esteemed individuals, including the Otu-Okaiwu President, the Clerk of the House of Representatives, National Assembly (represented by Hon. Joshua A. Gana), and the Chairman of the ALDRAP Council. Additionally, the Law Students Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN) was present to witness this epoch-making event.
During the ceremony, Dr. Jaja unveiled a book he co-authored with Barr Ochili Michael Obinna and two others titled "Igbaboyi Legislative Drafting: An Appraisal." The book launch was chaired by Barr. Ukaego, and one of the guests, the DPP of the Ministry of Justice, delivered a speech on how he personally benefited from Dr. Clinton Jaja's mentorship.

The graduation ceremony, held at the Obasanjo Hall in the Ministry of Justice, marked the successful completion of the ALDRAP/Igba-Boyi Internship. Participants were proud to receive their certificates and expressed their gratitude to all those who made this program possible.

In conclusion, the graduates of the Igba Boyi Scheme are immensely grateful to their mentors, supporters, and the entire Otu Oka Iwu Abuja community for their unwavering support. Through this program, they have gained valuable skills and knowledge that will undoubtedly propel their careers forward. It is their hope that more young lawyers will have the opportunity to benefit from similar initiatives in the future.
