Former Vice President of Nigeria and People's Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has reportedly confirmed that the national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, sent a delegation of governors to plead with him to drop his case against Tinubu.
The delegation, reportedly led by the Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, was said to have visited Atiku at his Abuja residence to plead with him to drop the case against Tinubu, but Atiku refused them entry into his house.
The former Vice President's confirmation of the incident was made during a world press conference held on Wednesday in Abuja, where he reiterated his call for an independent judiciary in the country.
He noted that his decision to challenge the outcome of the February 25th, 2023 presidential election, which he lost to incumbent President Ahmed tinub was to uphold the integrity of the judiciary.
Recall that Atiku had filed a petition against the results of the presidential election, claiming that he won the election and that the certificate tendered by tinubu to INEC was forged and that tinubu did not win the election, stating that the results were manipulated in favor of Tinubu.

The case was eventually dismissed by the court of appeal tribunal sitting in Abuja, which upheld the Election of President Ahmed Tinubu.
Many political analysts have viewed Atiku's confirmation of President Tinubu's alleged plot to stop him as a sign of the ongoing power play among politicians in the country.
Others have criticized Atiku's decision to reveal the incident, stating that it may further widen the cracks in the election dispute that has already caused a lot of damage to the country's democracy.
Nonetheless, Atiku has maintained that he will continue to challenge what he believes to be "political subterfuge" in the country's electoral process, and is committed to the establishment of an independent judiciary to safeguard the rights of all Nigerians.
