The Abia State Government is happy to have resolved the issue with the market cattle traders at the Umuchieze Cattle Market in Lokpanta, Umunneochi L.G.A. of the State. This issue had prompted a quit notice issued to the Igbos in the North by the northern group (NCM).
In a recent meeting with the leadership of the Northern Consensus Movement (NCM), an amalgamation of community-based socio-cultural and economically inclined northern organizations, a significant breakthrough was achieved. The NCM has officially withdrawn the quit notice issued to Igbo residents in the North, following a resolution regarding the Umuchieze Cattle Market issue at Lokpanta, Umunneochi L.G.A. The group had earlier issued a quit notice to Igbo residents in the North in reaction to the Umuchieze Cattle Market issue at Lokpanta, Umunneochi L.G.A"
During the meeting, the President of the NCM, Comrade Awwal Abdullahi Aliyu, expressed their understanding and support for the Abia State government's decision to transform the cattle market into a daily and non-residential facility.
