Otu oka-iwu Abuja endorses Mazi Afam Osigwe SAN as NBA Presidential Candidate in the 2024 NBA Election.



The Igbo Lawyers Group Comes Out in Support for Afam Osigwe as their tradition demands in Forthcoming NBA Election


The umbrella organization of Igbo lawyers in Abuja, Otu Oka-iwu Abuja, has endorsed Mazi Afam Osigwe as its candidate for the forthcoming NBA presidential election. The President of Otu Oka-iwu Abuja made this announcement during a meeting with Igbo lawyers in Gwagwalada, highlighting Osigwe's dedication and contributions to the Igbo lawyers' association (Otu oka-iwu Abuja). The President emphasized the importance of supporting Osigwe at this critical moment, in line with the organization's tradition and values.

The President highlighted the fact that the constitution of Otu oka-iwu Abuja was financed and printed by Mazi Afam Osigwe single-handedly, adding that it has been a longstanding norm to rally behind members of the association whenever they are contesting against non-members. In line with this principle, the publicity Secretary, Mrs. Bridge Edokwe, who is also running for a position, was endorsed as well.

The President encouraged lawyers in Gwagwalada to make time to attend Otu oka-iwu Abuja meetings and pledged to work closely with them. Recognizing and considering the importance of the area,  Mrs. Bridget Ochuba was appointed as the coordinator of the Gwagwalada Municipal area Council responsible for mobilizing members and ensuring their active participation in meetings and activities .


During the executive meeting with Igbo Lawyers resident in Gwagwalada the event witness various distinguished guests, including; the NBA Chairman of Gwagwalada branch, the Young Lawyers Chairman,Gwagwalada branch, the former Secretary of NBA Abuja, and others. Mrs. Bridget Ochuba, who has consistently shown dedication in Otu oka-iwu Abuja meetings, was commended by President Chief Chidi Udekwe for her commitment.

In addition to the Endorsement of Mazi Afam Osigwe SAN as the NBA presidential candidate, the treasurer, Chief Emeka Agbara, highlighted the importance of networking in the legal profession. He urged interested lawyers to join the Lawyers in Business platform he has opened to facilitate networking opportunities.

The meeting concluded with a group photograph of the executive members and the Igbo Lawyers residing in Gwagwalada, demonstrating their enthusiasm to be part of Otu oka-iwu Abuja. The Secretary of Otu oka-iwu Abuja, Miss ogechukwu okafor, delivered the vote of thanks, followed by the closing prayer by Mr Obiora.

This show of support from Otu oka-iwu Abuja for Afam Osigwe highlights the unity and solidarity among Igbo lawyers in Abuja and their commitment to advancing their interests within the NBA. The forthcoming NBA election promises to be an interesting one, as Mazi Osigwe SAN and Bridget Edokwe  gets endorsement of the association.

NBA Anaocha Branch Names Hall After Okey Wali, SAN The (NBA), Anaocha Branch (Family Bar), has resolved to name its main meeting hall after the 26th President of the Association, . NBA ABUJA BRANCH CONDEMNS THE ILLEGAL ARREST AND DETENTION OF SIMON AROMOSELE, ESQ. IN THE COURSE OF THE DISCHARGE OF HIS LAWFUL PROFESSIONAL DUTIES The Nigerian Bar Association, Abuja Branch (Unity Bar), strongly condemns the illegal arrest and detention of one of its members, Mr. Simon Aromosele, Esq., today by officers of the Inspector General of Police Monitoring Unit, Force Headquarters, Abuja, in connection with the discharge of his lawful professional duties. Mr. Aromosele was arrested for writing to OPay Bank on behalf of his client, requesting the lifting of a restriction on his client's account or the production of the court order authorising the restriction.
