breaking news: Otu-Okaiwu Abuja commences training and sponsorship of young Igbo lawyers, through apprenticeship program(Igba Boyi).
Otu-Okaiwu Abuja to launch young lawyers endowment scheme on the 14 September, 2023.
At the NBA HOUSE, Abuja.
According to the president of the organization, Barr Onwuaso Ejiofor
The Otu-Okaiwu Abuja Apprentice Scheme, "aims at empowering young Igbo legal practitioners who aspire to become well-trained professionals".
Through this endowment scheme, young lawyers of the association, can apply for mentorship, financial stipends, or scholarships to support their legal education, professional training, and research endeavors.
The president summarizes this as follows:
"The Otu Oka-Abuja Endowment is birthed to support young lawyers who though are desirous of pursuing a career in legal practice are inhibited by the challenge of lack of access to a ln established law firm to absorb and mentor them along the path of success. Often times, this lack of access or opportunity may not entirely be the fault of the forerunners within the profession as they also grapple with the challenges ranging from lack of adequate financial resources to Carter for the salary needs of the law interns, but also lack of adequate Offìce infrastructure to absorb the exponential number of young wigs emerging yearly from the Nigerian Law school.
It is in breaching this gulf of lack of access to mentoring and inadequate resources to absorb such interns, that the Endowment seeks to introduce a model of Igbo Apprenticeship System (IGBA BOYI).
The scheme will first seek to preserve the age long Igbo tradition that has proven impeccably to be the bedrock of successes of many Igbo Entrepreneurs and business giants across diverse sectors globally. It is also expected that through this Endowment, the requisite mentoring shall be handed down to young interns who will through the scheme will be adequately equipped to ply their trade within the profession along the path of excellence, growth and sustainable development."
