The Nigerian Bar Association Section on Public Interest and Development Law (NBA-SPIDEL) has invited young lawyers and undergraduate law students across Nigeria to participate in its 2026 Essay, Poetry and Spoken Word Competition, organised as part of activities marking its Annual Conference scheduled for 9–13 November 2026 in Umuahia, Abia State.
The competition, themed “In Public Interest: Advancing Justice, Democracy and Development,” seeks to promote intellectual engagement, creativity and advocacy on issues of justice, accountability and sustainable development.
Participants will compete in essay writing, poetry and spoken word performances under two categories: young lawyers called to the Nigerian Bar between 2018 and 2026, and undergraduate law students.
Winners in each subcategory will receive cash prizes of ₦75,000, ₦50,000 and ₦25,000 for first, second and third positions, respectively, alongside certificates, recognition and publication opportunities.
Interested participants are required to submit original, unpublished entries to nbaspidel2026competition@gmail.com on or before 5 November 2026.
Results will be announced on 9 November 2026, while winners will be formally recognised during the conference.
