Celebrating a Man of Many Parts: High Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN, PhD


The Lawyers in Business Institute (LIBI) celebrates an accomplished legal practitioner, distinguished business leader, respected academic, internationally recognised alternative dispute resolution expert and exceptional mentor, High Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN, PhD, on the occasion of his birthday.

Fondly known as the Akajiugo of Anaocha na Okotu and the Agbagho Dike’izu of Obeledu Kingdom in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, High Chief Obegolu is a man whose influence extends across the legal profession, business community and society at large.

Over the years, he has distinguished himself through visionary leadership, professional excellence and an enduring commitment to raising the next generation of leaders. He is widely regarded as a benefactor, maker of men, trailblazer and generational inspiration whose life and accomplishments continue to encourage many.

High Chief Obegolu currently serves as President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where he provides leadership within Nigeria’s organised private sector and contributes to the advancement of commerce, enterprise and economic development.

Within the legal profession, he has occupied several prominent leadership positions. He is a former General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, a past President of the Pan African Lawyers Union and a past President of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators.

He also served as Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association National Remuneration Committee, contributing significantly to ongoing efforts to protect the economic interests of lawyers and promote the proper remuneration of legal practitioners.

As an accomplished dispute-resolution professional, High Chief Obegolu has earned recognition for his expertise in mediation, conciliation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. His contributions have helped to strengthen ADR practice both within Nigeria and internationally.

Beyond professional leadership, he is the Founding Partner of Greenfield Chambers, Wuye, Abuja, and a Director of Green Heaven Estates Limited. His success in legal practice and business reflects his industry, foresight, courage and capacity to excel across different sectors.

However, his greatest legacy may not be found only in the offices he has occupied or the honours he has received. It is also evident in the lives he has touched, the professionals he has mentored, the leaders he has raised and the opportunities he has created for others.

As a loving father, devoted husband and distinguished community leader, he represents the values of service, responsibility, excellence and compassion. His life reminds us that true leadership is measured not merely by personal accomplishments but also by the number of people empowered to succeed.

As High Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN, PhD, marks another year, we celebrate his remarkable journey and pray that God will continue to strengthen, preserve and elevate him.

May his light never grow dim, and may his tomorrow always be greater than his yesterday. May he enjoy many more years of good health, fulfilment and greater service to humanity.

We also join his numerous friends, associates and admirers in praying that, by God’s grace, his aspiration to lead the Nigerian Bar Association in 2030 will become a reality.

NBA Anaocha Branch Names Hall After Okey Wali, SAN The (NBA), Anaocha Branch (Family Bar), has resolved to name its main meeting hall after the 26th President of the Association, . NBA Abuja Branch Vice Chairman Secures Release of Two Inmates After Three Years in Custody

In a significant human rights intervention, the Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Abuja Branch (Unity Bar), and Chairman of the Branch Human Rights Committee, Ikemefuna Onyeka, Esq., has facilitated the release of two Inmates, Bali Joshua and Paul Sunday, who had been in custody since 2023 in connection with an alleged homicide. Upon assuming office on 31st July 2026, Ikemefuna Onyeka, Esq. was briefed on the prolonged detention of the two individuals, whose matter had remained unresolved for more than three years.
