YAKUBU PHILEMON, SAN CONGRATULATES NBA PRESIDENT BADEJO-OKUSANYA, SAN, HAILS UNITY BAR’S AFAM OKEKE, AUDREY OFOEGBUNAM ON ASSUMPTION OF NATIONAL OFFICES

The Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Abuja Branch (Unity Bar), Yakubu Philemon, SAN, on behalf of the Executive Committee and entire membership of the Branch,  congratulates Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, on her swearing-in as the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association, alongside other members of the newly inaugurated National Executive Committee.

Mrs. Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, was sworn in on Friday, 28 August 2026, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, succeeding Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, the 32nd President of the Association.

Philemon, SAN, particularly congratulates  two distinguished members of the NBA Abuja Branch (Unity Bar), Afamefuna O. Okeke, Esq., and Audrey Chinelo Ofoegbunam, Esq., on their assumption of office as General Secretary and Welfare Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, respectively.

The Chairman noted that their elevation to national leadership is a source of immense pride to the Unity Bar, especially as both had previously served the Branch in the same Executive Committee between 2022 and 2024. Afam Okeke served as Chairman of the NBA Abuja Branch, while Audrey Chinelo Ofoegbunam served as Treasurer.



“Your stewardship and records of service in the Unity Bar speak eloquently for you. Having demonstrated commitment, diligence and professionalism in the service of our Branch, we have no doubt that you will bring the same resilience, competence and dedication to your respective national offices,” Philemon, SAN, stated.

He described their emergence as further evidence of the quality of leadership and professional excellence within the Abuja Branch, urging them to remain worthy ambassadors of the Unity Bar as they undertake their new responsibilities.

The Chairman also extended the warm congratulations and best wishes of the Branch to the entire newly inaugurated National Executive Committee: Oghenero Okoro, 1st Vice President; Egya Nuhu John, 2nd Vice President; Irene Pepple, 3rd Vice President; Afamefuna O. Okeke, General Secretary; Aghogho Gladys Okoro, Assistant Secretary; Esther Ifeoma Jimoh, Treasurer; Audrey Chinelo Ofoegbunam, Welfare Secretary; Dr. Prince I. Azubuike, Publicity Secretary; and Hadiza Nasir Ahmad, Assistant Publicity Secretary.


Philemon, SAN, wished President Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, and her entire team a successful and impactful tenure, expressing hope that the new administration will strengthen the Bar, promote lawyers’ welfare, uphold professional excellence, defend the rule of law and advance the interests of the legal profession and the Nigerian people.

For Afam Okeke and Audrey Ofoegbunam, the Chairman assured them that their home Branch, the Unity Bar, remains proud of their accomplishments and looks forward to their distinguished service at the national level.

NBA Anaocha Branch Names Hall After Okey Wali, SAN The (NBA), Anaocha Branch (Family Bar), has resolved to name its main meeting hall after the 26th President of the Association, . NBA ABUJA BRANCH CONDEMNS THE ILLEGAL ARREST AND DETENTION OF SIMON AROMOSELE, ESQ. IN THE COURSE OF THE DISCHARGE OF HIS LAWFUL PROFESSIONAL DUTIES The Nigerian Bar Association, Abuja Branch (Unity Bar), strongly condemns the illegal arrest and detention of one of its members, Mr. Simon Aromosele, Esq., today by officers of the Inspector General of Police Monitoring Unit, Force Headquarters, Abuja, in connection with the discharge of his lawful professional duties.
