Shuaib Agbarere Mustapha, SAN, Congratulates Yakubu Philemon, SAN, on His Inauguration as Chairman of NBA Abuja Branch

Mr. Shuaib Agbarere Mustapha, SAN, Chairman of the Inauguration and Planning Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Abuja Branch, has congratulated Learned Silk, Yakubu Philemon, SAN, on his successful inauguration as Chairman of the Abuja Branch (Unity Bar).

In his congratulatory message, Mustapha, SAN, described the inauguration as a significant and memorable occasion for the Abuja Branch, expressing his appreciation to God and to all members of the Branch whose support and cooperation contributed to the success of the event.

He congratulated Philemon, SAN, on the confidence reposed in him by members of the Branch and wished him a successful and impactful tenure as Chairman.

Mustapha, SAN, noted that assuming leadership of the Abuja Branch is a great responsibility and urged the new Chairman to remain committed to the ideals of unity, service, inclusiveness and professional excellence.

He particularly commended Philemon, SAN, for his vision of “United Without Barriers,” expressing the hope that the vision would translate into practical initiatives that would strengthen the bonds among members and promote the continued growth and development of the Branch.

The Chairman of the Inauguration and Planning Committee also congratulated the entire newly inaugurated Executive Committee, urging them to work closely with the Chairman and one another in the collective interest of the Branch.

Reflecting on the inauguration, Mustapha, SAN, expressed satisfaction that the event had successfully provided an appropriate platform for the formal commencement of the new administration. He appreciated members of the Planning Committee, Branch officials, volunteers and everyone who contributed to making the occasion a success.



He further expressed confidence that the Philemon-led administration would justify the confidence placed in it by members and leave behind a legacy of purposeful leadership, unity and meaningful achievements.

Mustapha, SAN, also expressed his profound appreciation to Yakubu Philemon, SAN, for honouring members of the Inauguration and Planning Committee with a Ward of Excellence, describing it as the first award of service instituted under his leadership as Chairman of the NBA Abuja Branch. He further thanked all members who supported the inauguration both financially and morally, and those who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the inauguration held on 7th August, 2026.



Mustapha, SAN, wished Yakubu Philemon, SAN, and the entire Executive Committee a peaceful, successful and transformative tenure, assuring them of his goodwill and support as they embark on the task of leading the NBA Abuja Branch for the next two years.

NBA Abuja Branch Vice Chairman Secures Release of Two Inmates After Three Years in Custody

In a significant human rights intervention, the Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Abuja Branch (Unity Bar), and Chairman of the Branch Human Rights Committee, Ikemefuna Onyeka, Esq., has facilitated the release of two Inmates, Bali Joshua and Paul Sunday, who had been in custody since 2023 in connection with an alleged homicide.
