NBA President’s Cup 2026: Yakubu Philemon, SAN, Hails Unity Bar Amazons’ Historic Fourth Consecutive Triumph, Celebrates Unity Bar FC

The Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Abuja Branch (Unity Bar), Mr. Yakubu Philemon, SAN, has congratulated the Unity Bar Amazons and Unity Bar FC on their outstanding performances at the 2026 NBA President’s Cup in Port Harcourt, describing their achievements as a source of immense pride and glory to the Abuja Branch.

The Unity Bar Amazons once again demonstrated their dominance in the women’s category by defeating NBA Bwari Branch Ladies 3–2 on penalties, following a keenly contested 1–1 draw in regulation time, to retain the coveted trophy.

The remarkable victory makes it four consecutive President’s Cup titles for the Unity Bar Amazons, further cementing their reputation as a formidable force in the competition.

Significantly, the triumph came despite the challenges and difficulties encountered by the female team just days before the start of the competition. Rather than allow the setbacks to derail their campaign, the Amazons displayed remarkable resilience, unity and mental strength, remained focused on their objective and ultimately emerged champions.

Reacting to the victory, Philemon, SAN, praised the players for their courage, discipline, teamwork and determination throughout the tournament, noting that winning the prestigious trophy for four consecutive years is an extraordinary achievement deserving of celebration.

“We are immensely proud of our Unity Bar Amazons. Despite the challenges they faced just days before the start of the competition, they remained focused, resilient and determined. To overcome those difficulties and still emerge champions for the fourth consecutive time speaks volumes about the character and fighting spirit of this team. You have brought honour and glory to the NBA Abuja Branch, and the entire Unity Bar family celebrates you,” he said.

The Chairman also congratulated Unity Bar FC, the Branch’s male football team, for securing third place in the male category, commending the players for representing the Branch with distinction and fighting spirit throughout the competition.

According to him, the performances of both teams reflect the strength, unity and competitive spirit for which the Abuja Branch is renowned.

He added that the achievements of the two teams have brought tremendous pride to the Branch, stressing that the four-time consecutive champions, Unity Bar Amazons, deserve their flowers and a red-carpet celebration for their historic feat.

“To our Amazons and Unity Bar FC, you have made us proud. You carried the name and colours of the Abuja Branch with distinction and returned with honours. Congratulations to our champions and our entire sporting family. Unity Bar is proud of you,” Philemon, SAN, stated.

The NBA Abuja Branch celebrates both teams for once again putting Unity Bar on the sporting map of the Nigerian Bar Association and wishes them even greater successes in future competitions.
