NBA President to Lead Lawyers in Grand Walkathon as Legal Community Takes Over Port Harcourt

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) is set to commence the 2026 Annual General Conference on a vibrant note as lawyers from across the country converge on the Garden City for a Walkathon led by the NBA President.

The Walkathon, scheduled for Saturday, 22 August 2026, at 6:00 a.m., will commence from The Stadium and is expected to draw a strong participation of delegates, colleagues and conference participants.

Beyond its significance as a physical fitness activity, the initiative is designed to foster wellness, camaraderie, unity and professional fellowship among members of the Nigerian Bar.

According to the NBA, the Annual General Conference represents more than a platform for robust legal discourse, professional development and networking. It also provides an opportunity for members of the profession to connect beyond the courtroom and conference halls, promote healthy living and experience the distinctive ambience of Port Harcourt, popularly known as the Garden City.

The NBA President's decision to lead the Walkathon is expected to lend further impetus to the initiative, with members encouraged to come out in large numbers and walk alongside the President in a collective demonstration of unity and commitment to a healthier Bar.

The NBA described the event as an opportunity to transform an ordinary morning exercise into a celebration of unity, wellness and the enduring spirit of the Nigerian Bar.

The Walkathon is also expected to inject additional energy into the opening activities of the 2026 AGC, as lawyers arrive in Port Harcourt for a week of intellectual engagement, professional interaction, networking and social activities.

NBA ABUJA BRANCH CONDEMNS THE ILLEGAL ARREST AND DETENTION OF SIMON AROMOSELE, ESQ. IN THE COURSE OF THE DISCHARGE OF HIS LAWFUL PROFESSIONAL DUTIES The Nigerian Bar Association, Abuja Branch (Unity Bar), strongly condemns the illegal arrest and detention of one of its members, Mr. Simon Aromosele, Esq., today by officers of the Inspector General of Police Monitoring Unit, Force Headquarters, Abuja, in connection with the discharge of his lawful professional duties.
