NBA Annual General Conference 2026: Port Harcourt Set to Host Legal Profession Under the Theme "Beyond Limits"

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Annual General Conference 2026 is set to bring together lawyers, judicial officers, public institutions, academics, business leaders and other stakeholders in the legal profession in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, from 21 to 28 August 2026.

With the theme “Beyond Limits,” the eight-day conference is designed to provide a platform for meaningful professional discourse, institutional engagement, community development, networking and reflection on the future of the Nigerian legal profession.

The conference will be held at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt, with a wide range of activities scheduled across the week.

A Week of Professional and Social Engagement

The conference will commence on Friday, 21 August, with the Jumaat Service at the Rivers State Muslim Central Mosque, 208 Niger Street, Port Harcourt.

On Saturday, 22 August, delegates will participate in a Health Walk, followed by Tree Planting and Community Clean-Up, reflecting the NBA’s commitment to wellness, environmental responsibility and community engagement. The day will also feature the Pre-Conference National Executive Council (NEC) meeting and the Welcome Cocktail, providing an opportunity for delegates to reconnect and network.

The official opening activities will take place on Sunday, 23 August. These will include the Church Service at Christ Church, Port Harcourt, located at No. 1 Forces Avenue, Old GRA, followed by the Opening Ceremony and the Opening of the Friendship Centre.

From 24 to 26 August, delegates will engage in a broad range of substantive conference activities, including showcases, plenary sessions and breakout sessions. The programme will also feature the highly anticipated Football Final, President’s Dinner and UNBARRED, offering opportunities for professional interaction, entertainment and social engagement.

The conference’s institutional business will take centre stage on 27 August, with the Sections Annual General Meetings (AGMs) and the Annual General Meeting of the Nigerian Bar Association.

The final day, 28 August, will feature the AGC Press Conference, the Swearing-In Ceremony, and the departure of delegates.

Beyond Limits: A Call to Professional Renewal

The theme, “Beyond Limits,” provides a timely framework for examining the evolving role of the legal profession in a rapidly changing world. From technological advancement and economic transformation to institutional reforms and emerging challenges in justice delivery, lawyers are increasingly required to adapt, innovate and expand the boundaries of professional practice.

The conference therefore presents an important opportunity for members of the legal profession to exchange ideas, examine emerging trends, strengthen professional relationships and contribute to conversations shaping the future of law and justice in Nigeria.

Beyond the formal sessions, the conference is expected to foster greater unity and collaboration among members of the Bar while providing opportunities for networking, mentorship, community engagement and celebration of the profession.

As Port Harcourt prepares to welcome the Nigerian legal community, the NBA Annual General Conference 2026 promises to be a significant gathering of ideas, leadership, fellowship and professional development.

All members of the Nigerian Bar Association are encouraged to make adequate plans to attend and participate actively in the 2026 Annual General Conference.
