NBA-AGC 2026: SLP Session to Tackle the Business of Legal Fees, Pricing and Payment


As the Nigerian Bar Association Annual General Conference (NBA-AGC) 2026 continues in Port Harcourt, the NBA Section on Legal Practice (NBA-SLP) is set to host an important session focused on one of the most practical issues confronting legal practitioners: how to properly price legal services, bill clients and get paid for the value they provide.

The session, themed “The Business of Fees: How Lawyers Should Price, Bill and Get Paid,” will hold on Wednesday, 26th August 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Chief Charles Idehen, Esq. Hall, Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Elekahia, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The conversation is expected to address the realities of running a sustainable legal practice, particularly the need for lawyers to understand the commercial value of their professional services. Discussions will explore effective fee-setting, professional billing practices, client engagement, fee recovery and practical approaches to ensuring that lawyers are adequately remunerated for their expertise, time and responsibility.

The session will feature an impressive panel comprising Bode Olanipekun, SAN; Chinyere Okorocha; Mr. Ikechukwu Ekwueme; Aisha Ado Abdullahi; and Isdore Ozuo.

Moderating the session is Emeka Obegolu, SAN, who will guide the conversation towards practical lessons that lawyers at different stages of practice can apply in building financially sustainable and professionally rewarding careers.

At a time when many practitioners grapple with underpricing, unpaid professional fees and the challenge of communicating value to clients, the session promises to provide useful insights into treating legal practice not only as a profession, but also as a sustainable business.

Conferees are encouraged to attend and discover practical strategies for pricing their expertise, billing professionally and getting adequately paid for the value they deliver.

NBA ABUJA BRANCH CONDEMNS THE ILLEGAL ARREST AND DETENTION OF SIMON AROMOSELE, ESQ. IN THE COURSE OF THE DISCHARGE OF HIS LAWFUL PROFESSIONAL DUTIES The Nigerian Bar Association, Abuja Branch (Unity Bar), strongly condemns the illegal arrest and detention of one of its members, Mr. Simon Aromosele, Esq., today by officers of the Inspector General of Police Monitoring Unit, Force Headquarters, Abuja, in connection with the discharge of his lawful professional duties.
