Monday Ubani, SAN, Congratulates Yakubu Philemon, SAN, on His Inauguration as Chairman of NBA Abuja Branch (Unity Bar)




Distinguished legal practitioner and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Dr. Monday Onyekachi Ubani, SAN, has congratulated Yakubu Philemon, SAN, on his successful inauguration as Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Abuja Branch, popularly known as the Unity Bar.

Philemon, SAN, was formally inaugurated alongside the newly elected members of the Branch Executive Committee on Friday, August 7, 2026, following his successful election to lead the Branch for the next two years.

In his congratulatory message, Ubani, SAN, described the occasion as a significant milestone and expressed confidence in the ability of the new leadership to provide purposeful, inclusive and progressive leadership for the Branch.

He commended Philemon, SAN, for the confidence reposed in him by members of the Branch and urged him to remain committed to the ideals of service, unity, accountability and professional excellence throughout his tenure.


Ubani, SAN, particularly noted the importance of the Chairman's campaign vision, “United Without Barriers,” stressing that the vision provides a strong foundation for promoting greater unity, inclusiveness and collaboration among members of the Abuja Branch.

He also congratulated the entire newly inaugurated Executive Committee and encouraged them to work together as a team in advancing the interests and welfare of members and further strengthening the reputation of the Abuja Branch within the Nigerian legal profession.

While wishing the new administration a successful tenure, Ubani, SAN, expressed optimism that the Philemon-led Executive Committee would leave a positive and enduring legacy through impactful leadership and meaningful contributions to the development of the Branch.

He wished Yakubu Philemon, SAN, and the entire Executive Committee a successful, peaceful and highly impactful tenure, and prayed that their administration would fulfil the confidence and expectations of the members of the NBA Abuja Branch.

NBA Abuja Branch Vice Chairman Secures Release of Two Inmates After Three Years in Custody

In a significant human rights intervention, the Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Abuja Branch (Unity Bar), and Chairman of the Branch Human Rights Committee, Ikemefuna Onyeka, Esq., has facilitated the release of two Inmates, Bali Joshua and Paul Sunday, who had been in custody since 2023 in connection with an alleged homicide.
