The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) is set to host a distinguished gathering of members of the legal profession and invited guests at the official NBA Annual General Conference (AGC) 2026 Welcome Cocktail, scheduled to take place today, Saturday, 22 August 2026, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The prestigious Welcome Cocktail will be hosted by the Chief Judge of Rivers State and is expected to bring together delegates from across Nigeria and beyond, including distinguished members of the Bar, judicial officers, senior advocates, young lawyers, legal practitioners, friends of the profession and other stakeholders attending the 2026 Annual General Conference.

The event is one of the highlights of the conference programme and is designed to provide conferees with an opportunity to unwind after the day's activities while fostering meaningful interaction, professional networking and camaraderie within the legal community.

Beyond its social significance, the Welcome Cocktail provides a platform for lawyers from different jurisdictions, branches and professional backgrounds to reconnect with old friends and colleagues, meet new members of the profession and establish relationships that may extend beyond the conference.

The occasion will also showcase the renowned hospitality of Rivers State, which is hosting the 2026 Annual General Conference. As lawyers and other stakeholders converge in Port Harcourt for the conference, the Welcome Cocktail offers the host state an opportunity to receive and warmly welcome members of the Nigerian legal community.

The NBA–AGC 2026, being held under the theme “Beyond Limits,” has brought together the legal community for an engaging programme of professional discourse, institutional activities, networking, social interaction and reflection on the future of the legal profession.

The Welcome Cocktail is expected to complement the intellectual and professional engagements of the conference by creating a relaxed environment where participants can interact outside the formal conference setting.

Guests will have the opportunity to share experiences, exchange ideas, strengthen existing relationships and forge new connections in an atmosphere of warmth and hospitality.

The Nigerian Bar Association has therefore encouraged all conferees and specially invited guests to attend the event and make the most of the opportunity to participate in this memorable evening of fellowship.
