CHIEF EMEKA OBEGOLU, SAN, Ph.D. CONGRATULATES YAKUBU PHILEMON, SAN, AND NEW NBA ABUJA BRANCH EXECUTIVE


Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN, Ph.D., Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Remuneration Committee,  congratulates the Chairman and entire newly inaugurated Executive Committee of the NBA Abuja Branch (Unity Bar) on their successful inauguration and assumption of office for the 2026–2028 tenure.

In his congratulatory message, Chief Obegolu, SAN, extended his best wishes to Yakubu Philemon, SAN, Chairman; Ikemefuna Onyeka, Vice Chairman; Vincent Adodo, Secretary; Mohammed Adama, Treasurer; Michael Obinna Ochili, Publicity Secretary; Adonai Yvonne, Welfare Secretary; Victor Onuche Chapi, Assistant Secretary; and Raymond Akwe Ashikeni, Social Secretary.

He expressed confidence that the new leadership would provide purposeful, inclusive and progressive leadership, while advancing the interests and welfare of members of the Branch.

Chief Obegolu, SAN, a former National Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, has himself served in several leadershipg capacities within the NBA Abuja Branch and has made significant contributions to the growth and development of the Branch and the Nigerian Bar Association at the national level.

He particularly commended the new administration's vision of “United Beyond Barriers,” stressing the importance of unity, collaboration and collective responsibility in building a stronger and more vibrant Branch.


He wished the Chairman and all members of the Executive Committee a successful and impactful tenure, urging them to build on the achievements of past administrations and leave a lasting legacy of excellence and service.

NBA Anaocha Branch Names Hall After Okey Wali, SAN The (NBA), Anaocha Branch (Family Bar), has resolved to name its main meeting hall after the 26th President of the Association, . NBA Abuja Branch Vice Chairman Secures Release of Two Inmates After Three Years in Custody

In a significant human rights intervention, the Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Abuja Branch (Unity Bar), and Chairman of the Branch Human Rights Committee, Ikemefuna Onyeka, Esq., has facilitated the release of two Inmates, Bali Joshua and Paul Sunday, who had been in custody since 2023 in connection with an alleged homicide. Upon assuming office on 31st July 2026, Ikemefuna Onyeka, Esq. was briefed on the prolonged detention of the two individuals, whose matter had remained unresolved for more than three years. Although the Human Rights Committee of the Branch had not yet been formally inaugurated, the Vice Chairman immediately took steps to address the matter, demonstrating an early commitment to the protection of fundamental human rights and access to justice.
