AGC 2026 Sports: Unity Bar Amazons Make History, Clinch Women’s President’s Cup for Fourth Consecutive Time

The NBA Abuja Branch (Unity Bar) Amazons have once again asserted their dominance in Nigerian Bar Association football, successfully defending the Women’s President’s Cup at the 2026 NBA Annual General Conference (AGC) in Port Harcourt to become champions for an impressive fourth consecutive time.

The defending champions defeated NBA Bwari Branch 3–2 on penalties following a thrilling and fiercely contested final that ended 1–1 at regulation time.

The victory means that the Unity Bar Amazons have successfully defended the trophy they won at the previous NBA Annual General Conference in Enugu, extending their remarkable championship run to four consecutive President’s Cup titles.

It was a final worthy of the occasion, as both sides displayed determination, tactical discipline and resilience in their quest for the coveted trophy.

With the scores level at 1–1 after regulation time, the championship had to be decided from the penalty spot. The Abuja ladies once again demonstrated the composure and winning mentality that have defined their dominance of the competition, prevailing 3–2 in the shootout to retain their crown.

The triumph capped another impressive campaign for the Amazons, who overcame formidable opposition on their way to the final.

Earlier in the tournament, the Abuja ladies recorded a commanding 3–0 victory over NBA Ikeja and subsequently survived a difficult encounter against NBA Lagos, winning 5–4 on penalties after a 1–1 draw to secure their place in the final.

Against NBA Bwari in the championship match, the Amazons were again required to dig deep, ultimately holding their nerve when it mattered most.

Their latest success is particularly significant because it goes beyond winning another trophy. Four consecutive President’s Cup titles underline the remarkable consistency and dominance of the Unity Bar Amazons in the women’s competition.

NBA Kano Makes History in Men’s President’s Cup

The men's competition equally produced a historic outcome as NBA Kano Branch defeated NBA Lagos Branch in the final to emerge champions.

The victory marked the first time NBA Kano Branch would lift the men’s President’s Cup in the history of the tournament, making the 2026 competition a memorable outing for the Branch.

Kano's triumph capped an impressive campaign and further highlighted the competitive spirit that characterised the football tournament at the Port Harcourt AGC.

Unity Bar FC Takes Third Place

NBA Abuja Branch also secured a podium finish in the men's category as Unity Bar FC defeated NBA Port Harcourt Branch in the third-place encounter.

The result ensured that the Abuja Branch concluded the tournament with an outstanding showing across both categories: champions in the women’s competition and third-place finishers in the men’s category.

Unity Bar FC had enjoyed an impressive run during the competition, recording notable victories before narrowly missing out on a place in the final. The team nevertheless regrouped to overcome the host Branch and secure the bronze position.

Port Harcourt Ladies Clinch Bronze

In the women’s third-place encounter, NBA Port Harcourt Branch defeated NBA Lagos Branch to secure the bronze position, ensuring that the host Branch also finished the competition on the podium.

The final standings therefore saw the Unity Bar Amazons crowned women’s champions for the fourth consecutive time, NBA Bwari finishing as runners-up and NBA Port Harcourt taking third place.

In the men's category, NBA Kano emerged champions for the first time, NBA Lagos finished runners-up, while NBA Abuja's Unity Bar FC secured third place.

Beyond the medals and trophies, the President’s Cup once again provided lawyers from across the country with an opportunity to strengthen friendship, unity and professional camaraderie away from the courtroom.

For the NBA Abuja Branch, however, the 2026 edition will be remembered particularly for another outstanding performance by its female football team.

From defending the title won at the previous AGC in Enugu to overcoming another highly competitive field in Port Harcourt, the Unity Bar Amazons have now lifted the Women’s President’s Cup four times in succession, cementing their reputation as a formidable force in NBA football.

Four consecutive championships. Four successful campaigns. One remarkable era of dominance for the Unity Bar Amazons.
