President Tinubu Announces New Appointments to South East Development Commission




In a recent press release from the State House, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced a new list of nominees for the South East Development Commission (SEDC) board. The new appointments include a chairman and five executive directors, who are expected to play a crucial role in developing the South East region.

New Chairman and Executive Directors

The new chairman of the SEDC board is Dr. Emeka Nworgu, who replaces Hon. Emeka Atuma. The five new executive directors are:

Stanley Ohajuruka: Executive Director of Finance, replacing Anthony Ugbo
 Toby Okechukwu: Executive Director of Projects, replacing Obinna Obiekweihe
Chief Sylvester Okonkwo: Executive Director of Corporate Services, replacing Dr. Daniel Ikechukwu Ugwuja
Chidi Echeazu: Executive Director (portfolio to be determined)
Dr. Clifford Ogbede: Executive Director (portfolio to be determined)

The President retained several nominees from the initial list, including:

- Hon. Mark C. Okoye: Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer
- Barr. Ugochukwu H. Agballah
- Hon. Okey Ezenwa
- Chief Hyacinth Ikpor
- Barr. Ifeanyi Agwu
- Nasiru Usman
- Hamma Adama Ali Kumo
- Edward David Onoja
- Orure Kufre Inima
- Chief (Mrs.) Joke Adebayo-Chukwuma


All the nominations are subject to Senate confirmation. President Tinubu expects the new nominees to use their wealth of experience and expertise to actualize the Commission's mandate and develop the South East region.

NBA ABUJA BRANCH CONDEMNS THE ARREST, HARASSMENT AND DETENTION OF LAWYERS IN THE COURSE OF PROFESSIONAL DUTIES The Nigerian Bar Association, Abuja Branch (Unity Bar), strongly condemns the arrest, handcuffing, harassment and detention of *Mr. Simon Eromosele, Esq.*, a member of the NBA Abuja Branch (Unity Bar), on the 14th of August, 2026, while carrying out his legitimate professional duties as Counsel. NBA ABUJA BRANCH CONDEMNS THE ILLEGAL ARREST AND DETENTION OF SIMON AROMOSELE, ESQ.
