Otu Oka-iwu Abuja Exco Pays Courtesy Visit to Senator (Prince) Chinedu Munir (Ned) Nwoko on Continued Pursuit for Regional Development and Welfare of Members: Advocating for Additional State Creation in the South East.


On Friday, September 13, 2024, Otu Oka-iwu Abuja Executive Committee, led by Chief Chidi Udekwe, made a significant courtesy visit to Senator (Prince) Chinedu Munir (Ned)  Nwoko, the Distinguished Senator, representing Delta North Senatorial Zone. The meeting took place at the Senator’s impressive residence in Maitama, Abuja, and served as a platform for discussing key issues pertinent to the welfare of Otu Oka-iwu members and regional initiatives, including the critical advocacy for the creation of additional states in the South East.

1. Welfare of Otu Oka-iwu Members:  
   There was an open dialogue regarding the overall welfare of the association’s members, focusing on how the Senator can intervene to enhance their support and resources.

2. Admission into Senator Nwoko's Sports University:  
   The delegation sought clarification for admission of members who may seek a PhD. in Sports Law being an area of Law yet untapped in the country.

3. State Creation Advocacy:  
   One of the most pressing issues discussed was the long-standing agitation for the creation of additional states within the South East region. Senator (Prince) Chinedu Munir (Ned)  Nwoko secured discussions on the demand for Anioma State, emphasizing its importance for addressing regional disparities and promoting balanced governance.  
   The Otu Oka-iwu Abuja team assured the Senator of their unwavering support for this initiative, recognizing its potential to enhance the South East's landmass and ensure equitable representation. This advocacy aligns with the resolve that the South East is greater than its current composition of five states and that the Igbo-speaking nation extends beyond the Niger River, warranting greater representation and resources.

4. Senatorial Support for Otu Oka-iwu Programs:  
   The Senator reinforced his commitment to backing Otu Oka-iwu’s initiatives. He encouraged collaboration, promising his assistance to members seeking help within his capacity, thus promising a fruitful partnership moving forward.

An insightful aspect of the visit was when Senator Nwoko extended his congratulations to Ochili Michael Esq, the association's Publicity Secretary, on his forthcoming wedding to a fellow member of Otu Oka-iwu, set to take place on September 28, 2024. The Senator expressed his intention to grace the wedding ceremony, emphasizing the communal spirit underpinning the interactions.
