UKEHE GENERAL ASSEMBLY ABUJA (UGAA) Prepares for Leadership Transition. the monthly meeting takes place tomorrow, Sunday, 7 at tickles garden, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.
In less than a month, the Ukehe General Assembly Abuja (UGAA) will welcome a new set of leaders as it prepares for its forthcoming elections. With three sons of Nkporogwu Ewuji Ukehe vying for the chairmanship position, the association is expected to witness a vibrant democratic process.
The contenders for the chairmanship position include Emmanuel Titus Aroh, the current Vice Chairman, Andy Igwe, the former Vice Chairman and Secretary, and Ozoji Sylvanus, the current Treasurer of the association. As the highest organ of the Ukehe people residing in Abuja and its environs, the UGAA plays a crucial role in promoting unity, progress, and development within the community.
The current leadership, led by Chief Barr Ifesi Nwodo, has served with distinction for quite some time. Having been elected on Sunday, August 4th, 2019, Chief Barr Ifesi Nwodo and his team were reelected for a second tenure, including an extra year added due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With this extension, Chief Barr Ifesi Nwodo's tenure in this esteemed position reaches a commendable five years.
The second tenure is set to end on August 7th, 2024, paving the way for new leaders to lead UGAA into the future. The association is committed to upholding democratic principles and conducting fair elections to ensure a smooth transition of power.
In line with this, the UGAA has scheduled its July meeting on Sunday, July 7th, 2024.
The agenda of the meeting includes crucial matters such as the final reading and passage of the constitution into bye-law, account presentation, and the constitution of electoral committee members. The meeting will take place at 3 pm and will be graciously hosted by Ozor Chief Friday Aroh. The venue for the event is Tickles Garden, located in Wuse Zone 5.
