Otu Okaiwu Abuja Commences First Batch Roll out of her IGBA BOYI APPRENTICESHIP SCHEME FOR YOUNG LAWYERS IN ABUJA
The Otu Oka-Iwu Abuja Endowment Trust Committee is pleased to announce the commencement of the Igba Boyi Endowment program. This initiative aims to provide support and opportunities for young Igbo lawyers practicing law in Abuja.
In a publication titled INVITATION FOR APPLICATION” released by the Chairman of the Otu Oka-iwu Abuja Endowment Trust Committee- Chief Ejiofor Onwuaso, the Committee invites all prospective interns…… to submit their applications. Eligible applicants must be duly registered as financially members of Otu Okaiwu Abuja for a minimum of 6 months and should be between years 1-5 post call. In exceptional cases, 30% of the slots are available for lawyers of 1-10years to submit their applications. Law firms in Abuja are encouraged to participate in absorbing and admitting the interns in their offices throughout the duration of the program. Interested law firms can apply and fill out the specific google form designed for this purpose.
The application process begins on July 30, 2024, and the deadline for submission is August 20, 2024. After the closure of the application process, successful applicants and participating law firms will undergo a screening process. Following satisfactory due diligence, selected interns will be notified and their names will be published as the first batch of interns admitted under the Otu Okaiwu Abuja Igba Boyi Endowment Scheme. These interns will receive a monthly remuneration of N50,000 from the Endowment fund for the 6-month duration of the internship.
Participating law firms have the option to retain interns after the 6-month period and negotiate appropriate salaries directly with the interns, without involving Otu Okaiwu. Additionally, law firms are encouraged to consider providing additional salary supplements to the interns during their internship period.
