Otu Oka-iwu Abuja (Igbo Lawyers) Association Endorses three of Her members contesting in the NBA Election.
We, Otu Oka-iwu (Igbo Lawyers) Association, are proud to announce our firm endorsement of esteemed members contesting for key positions within the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). This endorsement statement reflects our unwavering commitment to the core principles that have guided our association throughout its existence.
At the heart of our forum lies the guiding principle of ONYE AGHANA NWANNEYA. This Igbo mantra encapsulates the spirit of togetherness and solidarity, values we hold sacrosanct and refuse to compromise for short-term political expediency. As we continue to build and strengthen our community, it remains vital that we uphold and cherish these principles. Even in the face of electoral processes, where external influences may threaten our unity, we emphasize the importance of our brotherhood and solidarity, particularly when dedicated members are involved.
In light of this, we wholeheartedly support the candidacies of Mazi Afam Josiah Osigwe, SAN, who is running for the position of President; Lolo Bridget Edokwa, vying for the position of Publicity Secretary; and Mazi Eric Ibe, seeking the position of General Council. These members have showcased remarkable competence and received numerous endorsements, reflecting their capabilities to excel in these roles.
The principle of ONYE AGHANA NWANNEYA holds no meaning if we fail to actively embrace and practice it. As it stands, we do not have any other members contesting for these positions, making it imperative for us to rally behind our own. After careful analysis and extensive consultations with our members and stakeholders, the Executive Members of Otu Oka-iwu have taken the unanimous decision to officially endorse Mazi Afam Josiah Osigwe, SAN, for the position of President; Lolo Bridget Ijeoma Edokwe for the position of Publicity Secretary; and Mazi Eric Ibe for the position of General Council of the NBA.
In supporting these candidates, our endorsement goes beyond their individual aspirations. It is a resounding statement reaffirming the unity and strength of our association. We firmly believe that their leadership will contribute significantly to a proactive and progressive Bar, one that we can all be immensely proud of both now and in the future.
We extend our deepest gratitude to all who have provided their attention and support to this endorsement. Together, let us continue working towards a more inclusive and formidable legal community.
Sincerely,
Chidi Udekwe
President
Otu Oka-iwu (Igbo Lawyers Forum)
