Otu Oka-iwu Abuja to hold it's First General Meeting Under The New Executive body, led by chief Chidi Udekwe Esq.

The newly elected Executive body of Otu Oka-iwu Abuja, ably led by Chief Chidi Udekwe Esq., is pleased to announce its first General Meeting, scheduled for May 31st, 2024. The meeting will take place at the Novare Central Complex building (ShopRite) in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja. The meeting will commence at 4:00pm prompt.

"We are honored to have Mazi Afam Osigwe SAN, a distinguished Senior Advocate of Nigeria and NBA Presidential aspirant in the upcoming election, as our host for this meeting".

All members are cordially invited to attend and actively participate in shaping the future of Otu Oka-iwu Abuja."

The Otu-okaiwu Abuja is the umbrella body of Igbo lawyers practicing law in Abuja, Nigeria. It serves as a platform for Igbo lawyers to come together, network, and support one another in their legal practice. The organization was established with the aim of promoting the interests of Igbo lawyers, welfare, and professional development.
The Otu-okaiwu Abuja has a rich history that dates back several years. It was founded by a group of visionary Igbo lawyers who recognized the need for a formal organization that would advocate for the rights and interests of Igbo lawyers in Abuja. Over the years, the organization has grown in strength and numbers, attracting lawyers from diverse backgrounds and areas of specialization.
The organization provides a forum for Igbo lawyers to discuss issues affecting their practice and share insights and experiences. It also organizes regular meetings, seminars, and workshops to enhance the professional development of its members. By encouraging dialogue and collaboration among its members, the Otu-okaiwu Abuja aims to foster a strong sense of unity and solidarity among Igbo lawyers, thereby promoting the advancement of the Igbo legal profession.

In addition to its advocacy and networking activities, the Otu-okaiwu Abuja is also actively involved in community development initiatives. The organization regularly carries out pro bono legal services, providing legal aid to indigent members of the society who otherwise would not have access to legal representation. It also organizes medical outreaches and other charitable activities to give back to the community.

Under the leadership of the new executive committee headed by Chief Chidi Udekwe, the Otu-okaiwu Abuja is set to build on its achievements and continue to serve as a strong voice for Igbo lawyers in Abuja. The committee is committed to upholding the principles of equity, justice, and professionalism in the legal practice while working towards the promotion of the interests and welfare of its members.

Lawmakers express dissatisfaction with sectors' non-performance explanation. The Accountant-General of the Federation, Oluwatoyin Madein, faced intense questioning from the Senate during a session on the 2024-2026 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF). Lawmakers expressed their dissatisfaction with the explanation provided for the non-performance of certain sectors. During the session with the Joint Senate Committee on Finance, Madein revealed that there had been zero revenue generated from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and the solid minerals sector in the past two years. Additionally, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) reported an abysmal figure in terms of revenue.
