Otu-Oka-Iwu Abuja Partner's with NLC to Promote Traditional Concept of Igba- boyi for the Advancement of Igbo Young Lawyers of Otu Oka-iwu Abuja.
Otu Oka-iwu Abuja has partnered with the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) to promote the traditional concept of "Igba Boyi"/"Igba Odibo" for the benefit of young lawyers. The executive body of Otu Oka-iwu Abuja visited the leadership of the NLC to discuss how this partnership could benefit its members.
Labour and Employment Law is a critical part of legal practice, and discussions on remuneration have been prominent in the Nigerian Bar Association.
The President of Otu Oka-iwu, Abuja, Chief Chidi Udekwe, Stated that a seminar on labour engagement, practice, and procedures at the National Industrial Court would be a beneficial partnership for members.
Chidi Udekwe also mentioned that Otu Oka-iwu Abuja has approached the Nigerian Bar Association Institute of Continuing Legal Education to enable members to earn CLE points and receive certificates of training from the seminar.
NLC President
In response, the President of the NLC, Comrade Joe Ajero, assured the Otu Oka-iwu executives that the NLC would collaborate with them to achieve success in the areas of labour and employment practice, particularly in sustaining the "Igba Odibo" project. He emphasized that the "Igba Boyi" / "Igba Odibo" concept is not only a global study, but also an advanced interest in labour and employment.
The NLC President further stated that many successful Igbo businessmen today are products of the "Igba Boyi" / "Igba Odibo" concept, and he supports the idea of seeing many young Igbo lawyers successful. He believes that the project represents the true spirit of "onye aghana nwanneye" when properly understood.
