Tinubu’s Message To National Assembly: Stay Clear Of Ministerial And CBN Governor Appointments

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has voiced concerns over the frequent summoning of his appointees by the National Assembly, suggesting that such actions could disrupt their core responsibilities. Speaking at a Ramadan fast-breaking event in Abuja, Tinubu urged lawmakers to exercise restraint and allow appointed officials to focus on their duties without unnecessary interruptions.

Acknowledging the importance of oversight in ensuring transparency and accountability, Tinubu emphasized that excessive summoning could impede the smooth operation of government agencies and hamper service delivery to citizens. He called on lawmakers to balance their oversight duties with the need to let appointed officials carry out their primary responsibilities effectively.

Tinubu expressed confidence in the National Assembly’s ability to uphold good governance and praised the collaborative efforts between the executive and legislative branches. He cited the swift approval of various bills aimed at improving the well-being of Nigerians as evidence of this cooperation.

Encouraging lawmakers to stay connected with their constituents, Tinubu urged them to demonstrate kindness and support to those in need, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan. He stressed the collective sacrifices being made for the country’s progress and emphasized the importance of unity and national solidarity.

In response to a recent tragic incident where soldiers were attacked while on duty in Delta State, Tinubu extended condolences to the bereaved families and assured them that the sacrifices of the fallen heroes would be honored with dignity and national recognition.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, echoed the call for forgiveness, generosity, and prayers during Ramadan, emphasizing the need for national unity and support for President Tinubu’s administration. He commended the ongoing cooperation between the executive and legislative branches for the country’s advancement.

Reflecting on the ten months of the administration, Abbas affirmed the House’s support for the President and his policies, underscoring their commitment to working together for the nation’s progress.
