"Afenifere Proposes Solutions to Insecurity and Attacks on Security Personnel in Nigeria".

Afenifere, a pan-Yoruba socio-cultural and political organization, has expressed deep concern over the recent fatal attacks on police officers, just 11 days after a similar attack on military personnel in Delta State. The organization also commended President Bola Tinubu for his efforts in honoring the fallen soldiers who were tragically killed.

In a press release issued by Jare Ajayi, the National Publicity Secretary of Afenifere, the organization congratulated Tinubu, Northern elders, security agencies, and the governors of Kaduna and Zamfara States for the successful rescue of the kidnapped students from Kuriga and Sokoto. Afenifere's statement comes in the wake of the recent abductions in the North and the killing of 17 soldiers and six policemen in Delta State, with an additional six policemen reported missing within a span of two weeks.

Afenifere highlighted the urgent need to critically examine the operational strategies of security agencies. They brought attention to reports from the field and statements made by army commanders, which revealed the challenges faced by soldiers in combating banditry. The organization noted that soldiers often faced difficulties deterring bandits due to their limited familiarity with the geography and terrain, giving the bandits an advantage. The lack of sufficient patrolling and surveillance along Nigeria's northern borders further exacerbates the problem.

Therefore, Afenifere called on the government to address the issues raised by the Chief of Defence Staff. The organization stressed the importance of increasing the number of security personnel and providing them with the necessary equipment to effectively manage and monitor all areas requiring security presence.

In related news, the Chief Whip of the Senate, Ali Ndume, praised Tinubu for posthumously honoring the soldiers who were slain in Okuama, Delta State. Ndume commended Tinubu for attending the funeral, stating that the President's presence demonstrated his patriotism. He called on political leaders and all Nigerians to put aside their differences and unite in honoring the fallen heroes who bravely defended and protected the country.

Afenifere's proposals and concerns, alongside the commendation for Tinubu's actions, underscore the urgent need for improved security measures and a united front in addressing the escalating insecurity and attacks on security personnel in Nigeria.
