Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has sworn in 14 sole administrators to oversee the local government areas of the state. The swearing-in ceremony took place on November 9, 2023, at the Nadama Hall in Gusau, the state capital. The governor emphasized the guiding principles of competence, dedication, and experience in the selection of the administrators.
During the ceremony, Governor Lawal reminded the newly sworn-in sole administrators of his administration's mission to transform the well-being of the people, particularly in the areas of security and infrastructure development. He urged them to fully implement policies and programs that would contribute to the positive transformation of the state.
The sole administrators will be responsible for overseeing the affairs of the Local Government Councils for a period of six months. This interim arrangement will continue until all necessary preparations for the Local Government elections are completed by the State Independent Electoral Commission.
In a statement by the governor's media aide, Sulaiman Bala Idris, it was emphasized that the sole administrators were carefully selected based on their competence, dedication, and experience. They were chosen for their honesty, integrity, valuable contributions to their communities, and support in rescuing Zamfara from ineptitude and impunity.
Governor Lawal urged the sole administrators to work hard and justify the confidence placed in them. He emphasized the importance of preparing themselves to handle the numerous tasks and responsibilities associated with their roles. As the third tier of government and the closest to the people, the local government plays a crucial role in governance.
With the swearing-in of the sole administrators, it is expected that the local government areas in Zamfara State will experience effective leadership and governance. The administrators have been entrusted with the responsibility to work towards the betterment of their respective communities and contribute to the overall development of the state.
