The Nigerian Bar Association Has Commenced Her 63rd Annual General Conference.

The theme of this year's Conference was carefully chosen by the conference planning committee, headed by Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN.
The Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) is a professional association of lawyers in Nigeria. It was founded in 1933 and serves as the umbrella body for all lawyers in the country. The NBA aims to promote the rule of law, uphold the principles of justice, protect the rights and interests of its members, and contribute to the development of the legal profession in Nigeria. The association organizes conferences, seminars, workshops, and other events to enhance legal education and professional development. It also advocates for legal reforms and plays a crucial role in ensuring the independence of the judiciary.

The Nigeria Bar Association's annual conference is scheduled to be held from August 25 - 1st of September, 2023, in Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria. This conference would bring together lawyers, legal professionals, and stakeholders from across the country to discuss important legal issues, promote professional development, and contribute to the advancement of the legal profession in Nigeria. 

The NBA is Nigeria's foremost and oldest professional membership organization and Africa's most influential network of legal practitioners, with over 140,000 lawyers on its roll in 128 active branches across the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria.

NBA is having her 63rd Annual General Conference of the Bar, holding in capital city, Abuja. From 25th of August to 1st of September, 2023.
We are honoured at the privilege of leading eminent colleagues from across the branches, to plan and deliver what we hope will be another excellent gathering. As you are all  aware, the Annual General Conference (AGC) is the leading annual event of the NBA and a staple on the calendar of the Nigerian legal profession. 

Each year, we come together to discuss, debate and look into new ways to improve the practice of our legal profession, our client relationship, public issues, state of the nation and governance. 

"Getting It Right, Charting the Course for Nigeria’s Nation Building”. 

The Conference is billed to run from August 25 until September 1, 2023.

The opening Media Conference was held at the NBA Secretariat in Abuja and had in attendance the President of the NBA, Mr Yakubu Maikyau OON, SAN; Chairman of the 2023 AGCPC, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN; Mrs Oyinkan Badejo-Okusanya, Alternate Chairperson of the AGCPC; Mrs Laura Alakija and Mrs Nkiru Okeke representing Crystal Digital, the IT Consultant for the Conference.

Others present were NBA First Vice President, Mrs Linda Bala and NBA Secretary, Mr Adesina Adegbite.

Speaking on the theme of the Conference, the NBA President noted that 

"it is important for the Association to get it right, since the nation Nigeria as a whole has all the resources in place to give its success the requisite 'push'."

Remember, the Nigerian Bar Association serves as a critical institution in Nigeria's governance, actively promoting the rule of law, upholding human rights, and contributing to the development of a just and fair society.

The conference was been planned and chaired by a local planning committee  members headed;

 Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN.
In his opening remarks, while declaring the conference open,  he made the Following remarks;

"I urge all of us to approach this conference with open minds, a thirst for knowledge, and a firm resolve to contribute to the discourse that will shape the future of our profession and our nation. Together, let us strive towards “Getting It Right” in all our endeavors".

NBA president delivered an interesting speech During the NBA garki Branch, law week. NBA ABUJA experience A large turn up of members during her October monthly general meeting held on Friday, 6th of October, 2023. At NBA AUDITORIUM, Central Area, Abuja. The meeting  was graced by prominent elders of the Bar and notable senior advocates of Nigeria. Such prof.
