LET OLUNIDE AKPATA HAVE A GOOD BREATH-SELAH TO THOSE CLAMORING FOR A SAN CANDIDACY .

WHO IS AFRAID OF OLUMIDE AKPATA?

The desperation to kick out Olumide Akpata at all cost from the NBA presidential election [as they did to Mazi Afam Osigwe during the last cycle] is so sickening. It stinks to high heaven!

1. First they said he is not from the West and cannot run for office. That one failed, and the ECNBA cleared the man.

2. They called him all sorts of names for donating palliatives to his NBA branch at the peak of the Coronavirus pandemic, and called for his disqualification because, according to them, this kind gesture (which his detractors never showed their colleagues) was designed to entice lawyers! This failed.

3. They said he is not a SAN and has no litigation experience because the NBA only belongs to awon "My Lord, May I?" Apologies to Lasisi Elenu. Like the ones before it, this propaganda failed.

4. Then, they wrote a terribly insulting letter calling on the Body of SANs to make sure no junior lawyer ("including Mr Akpata who has been in practice for over 25 solid years) is allowed to be NBA president, notwithstanding the will of those of us in the "outer Bar" who have the numerical advantage.This caused an uproar amongst "junior lawyers", and even the other candidates [as a damage control measure] came out to dissociate themselves from the letter BECAUSE it was leaked.

5. Whilst we are trying to recover from the shock of their letter, they have prepared another cocktail of lies in a fresh attempt to kick out Olumide Akpata. Why? Because he was spotted at a former class mate's party in a private residence! Even though they have been attending to their own private businesses outside their states of residence, Olumide Akpata must stay put in Lagos, shut down his practice and cancel all personal/business engagements elsewhere because running for NBA president translates to being caged! And for the avoidance of doubt, what the ECNBA Guidelines prohibit is interstate travel FOR THE PURPOSE OF CANVASSING FOR VOTES. They have no proof of Olumide Akpata asking the good people of PH to vote for him, but somehow they still have to rope him in sha because....

With this unprecedented level of desperation in Bar politics, I won't be surprised if the next thing they say is that Olumide is a Chadian or that he obtained his LLB by affidavit!!

But guess what, in spite of all of this, Olumide Akpata has maintained calmness, decorum and maturity. This is class! They cannot understand it!

Come rain or shine, I am confident that all the evil plans and machinations against Olumide Akpata (including those that they have yet to unveil) will fail, and fail woefully. Olumide, by God's grace, you will be our 30th NBA president, whether your detractors like it or not!
