ADVICE OF FATHER GODSWIL AGBAGWA ON MASTER JOSEPH OLUOMACHI OPARA , HIS SPONSORS ON CATHOLIC PRIESTHOOD.
ADVICE OF FATHER GODSWIL AGBAGWA ON MASTER JOSEPH OLUOMACHI OPARA AND THE CATHOLIC PRIESTHOOD.
According to father Godswil, priesthood is a vocation and not a career as he carefully articulated in his post on his Facebook page .
The Rev Father has this to say;
I have listened to Oluomachi.
Honestly, this 9-year old has angelic voice. I am happy that many people have stepped up to support his education. Imo Governor has even promised to adopt him and train him until he becomes a Catholic priest.
I hope people understand that the Catholic priesthood is a vocation not a career. While having an angelic voice and being versed in Catholic songs may seem priestly, priests are not just singers. In fact, many priests are not good singers including myself.
Some seminarians who sang well in the seminary also ended up not becoming priests.
Those who want to support Oluomachi must bear in mind that the Catholic priesthood is a call. If you are interested in training him because he wants to be a priest, please be advised that he can change his mind along the long journey to the Catholic priesthood and decide not to be a priest anymore or the Church may stop him from being a priest even an hour to ordination.
I would advise the governor and all others interested in training this kid to focus on giving him good Catholic education and honing his singing skills, so they will not be disappointed should he not become a Catholic priest.
The Catholic priesthood is a vocation not a career. You can pass all the exams, follow all the rules and still not become a priest. You can fail exams and break the rules and still become one.
