Chief Ojo Maduekwe is dead ,he died @ the age of 71
Chief Ojo Maduekwe (born May 6, 1945 - June 29, 2016) was appointed
Foreign Minister of Nigeria on July 26, 2007 by President Umaru
Yar'Adua . 1.
He left office in March 2010 when Acting President
Goodluck Jonathan dissolved his cabinet. [2]
He was National Secretary
of the ruling political party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) . He
worked as the deputy director of PDP presidential campaign 2011
Goodluck/Sambo ticket. He was nominated for SGF, but was
subsequently dropped following criticism by eastern people.
Previously, Maduekwe had been appointed Culture and Tourism
minister by President Olusegun Obasanjo in 1999. [3]
He was appointed
Minister of Transport in 2001. In this position, he advocated greater use
of bicycles, although critics said that the roads were unsafe for cyclists
and Maduekwe himself was pushed into a ditch by a bus while he was
cycling to work. [4]

NBA Abuja Branch Vice Chairman Secures Release of Two Inmates After Three Years in Custody

In a significant human rights intervention, the Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Abuja Branch (Unity Bar), and Chairman of the Branch Human Rights Committee, Ikemefuna Onyeka, Esq., has facilitated the release of two Inmates, Bali Joshua and Paul Sunday, who had been in custody since 2023 in connection with an alleged homicide. Upon assuming office on 31st July 2026, Ikemefuna Onyeka, Esq. was briefed on the prolonged detention of the two individuals, whose matter had remained unresolved for more than three years.
